Boring. Ryan isn’t great, lotsa details but at least sounds credible. Joe is a jerk, boasting and smash mouth. And that phony smile, fake.
Moderator with the best line of the night: “You guarantee this math adds up?”
Half the time I can’t even figure out what the hell Joe Biden is yelling about. My only prediction is that Biden’s negatives go even higher.
I agree, he looks like an angry old man with bad dentures and terrible plugs.
Biden is going out of his way to win Jerk of the Year. I think it’s going to backfire on him and wind up turning people off. He’s over reaching.
I think Biden is charging up the base, but alienating swing voters. Smiling and shaking his head during Ryan’s answers hurt him badly. People want solutions, not talking points.
LOL. Biden is so friggin pissed that he has to make up ground that Obama lost.
Ryan, when he has to do a rebuttal, basically begins with something that says to the viewer ‘I agree this guy is a bit crazy.’
My ears start to hurt about 1 minute into Joe Biden everytime. He’s just screaming.
If this is Biden’s idea of helping make up for Obama’s failure – Obama is in deep trouble!
Biden too angry.
My gut says polls will say Biden won. Personally I’d call it basically a draw but my overall feeling is this debate was a little odd style wise. Small table, very active moderator and weird questions.
Be interested in the ratings to see if the audience stayed or turned to baseball
This was the worst debate I have ever seen…….Ryan was the only ADULT and he was debating two people at the same time CRAZY JOE and the liberal moderator…………SMURK, RANT, INTERRUPTING, will not bring INDEPENDENTS and UNDECIDES to Obama.
To know whose campaign is floundering, look at the reaction of the families. Biden’s family looked like they were entering a morgue. Ryan’s were happy and optimistic.
talk bout bipolar…obama then biden….dr jekyll and mister hyde
Reminds me of the ’04 VP debate when Bush lost the first debate. I was so excited to Cheney tear up Edwards…anything to deal with the downer of that first debate. Very few indies watched (I’m sure). Gave some life to the libs…I say it was a push for RR..maybe 0.5-1% boost…who knows…
A wash.
CNN’s undecideds say 33% Biden, 33% Ryan, and 33% tied.
I’ll take that.
33 33 33 uh huh….chicago voting…but its the best we get its the best we get…
That was their first estimate. CNN turned out 48-44 in favor of Ryan in their released poll.
pretty much a tie still…ill take it anyday…but cbs wow…un/d’s right out of obama’s office…
I doubt the needle moves. Biden turned off a lot of women and I expect him to get a lot of negative press due to how condescending and disrespectful he was. Krauthammer nailed it in his analysis, that any ground Biden made was lost to anyone who watched on TV.
Dems were hoping Biden would swoop in and save the day. He didn’t. It was a draw.
Though lefties will love this. But the swing voters will not.
Everyone on Luntz’s group noticed the Biden act. Big take away by the people, but not something that changes things. The only movement is that Biden’s negatives are going to go up.
“He didn’t need a teleprompter to get his point across.” On Biden. Luntz told him to can the jokes, lol.
About 75% of these are Obama voters in ’08. Most seem to think that Biden has a lot of experience and won, but it didn’t matter.
No one raised their hand as to deciding based on this debate.
CNBC Poll gives win to Ryan 56-36% 8% to neither.
48-44 in favor of Ryan.
Sorry, that’s CNN.
Since Biden didn’t win, and no one thinks this changed anything, the media will focus on something why Biden wasn’t able to do it.
Joe Pounder @PounderFile FACT: Final Count: Biden interrupted 82 times during the entire debate.
Wow.
Any links on these results?

Total time:
Biden-41:32
Ryan-40:12
Joe got an extra 1:20
Incidentally, I didn’t hear either candidate mention any states in order to get a peek as to what is considered a swing state. Biden made a generic reference to Detroit but it was in context of a point about the auto bailout. Ryan made it a point to mention a Senator from Oregon he worked with, so maybe Oregon is in play. Otherwise nada.
Ryan mentioned his mother in Fl. It was when they were talking about Medicare
CNN Focus Group Member: Biden Acted Like ‘Buffoon’ http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2012/10/11/CNN-Focus-Group-Member-Biden-Acted-Like-Buffoon?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BreitbartFeed+%28Breitbart+Feed%29
Oh, snap. That is the takeaway.
In Two Post Debate Polls Ryan Beats Sitting a Vice President http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/10/11/CNBC-Poll-Ryan-Crushes-Biden-56-36
well whats clear to me is that Mitt Romney is a much better debater than the three other candidates. Mitt has bee through 19 tough debates and theses guys all seem rusty. I don’t think the format suited Ryan too much and he maybe conceded too much to Biden. But Biden looked nuts which undermines his argument. This wont move the needle, but more importantly, and I don’t have a good feel on this: did it slow Romney’s momentum? Frank Lunt’s focus group seems to show nobody changed their minds based on this debate.
well I guess some polls are coming in showing Ryan won…oh well…I’ll take it….
what till next debate and see what candy and the rest of news media do to him….martha and cbs on steriods…i doubt romney will win any of the snap polls…and move the needle?…its a tied election so anything helps…and if it moves it will move for us not obama
What Romney seems to be able to do, and what Ryan did not, is quickly draw any issue in the debate up to the more comprehensive level of personal liberty/free markets v. “trickle down government”/socialism. This quick abstraction, is a talent that is honed from Romneys vast experience at debating. Romney knows the watch words and the openings that can be used to blast off into the capitalism v. socialism. Romney knows you cant get caught in the weeds on a policy response to a troglodyte like Biden, and this is where Ryan lost rhetorical points.
Good thing, Obama’s not as smart as Biden…
CNN/ORC POLL October 3 DEBATE WATCHERS Who Was More Likeable? Ryan 53% Biden 43%
and people…esp women vote on who they like….isnt that what the media has been telling us bout barack all this time?
CNN: 51% say Ryan more in touch with average person problems. 44% say Biden.
I could see these numbers being the state of the race as of now: 51-44.
AP Poll: Ryan 51% Biden 43%
At times Biden looked like he was on the sauce and a bit unhinged. Dont think changed the dynamics of the race
CNN poll: 57% @JoeBiden is qualified to be President, 60% @PaulRyanVP is.
This debate will only be remembered for Biden’s buffoonery. Doesn’t slow the downward trajectory of Zero’s campaign
Free Republic’s server crash or what?
@CBSNews INSTANT POLL of Undecided Voters: Who won#VPdebate? BIDEN: 50% RYAN: 31% TIE: 19% Live
Split decision.
AP, CNN, CNBC Polls all went to Ryan. CBS instant poll to Biden 50-31.
Minus MSNBC the panelists across the board condemned Biden’s actions.
focus groups seemed unimpressed with the whole process.
I was surprised by the pro Ryan polls figured he’d have been trounced by the media. All in all momentum stays lean Romney.
If Obama comes out rude, interruptive and arrogant like Biden, he LOSES. Obama’s only hope is pour on the hopey changey thing
It was an online poll.
CNN – 49/43 Ryan over Biden. 21% more for Obama, 28% for Romney. CNN hardly in the tank for Romney. Ryan outperformed Biden with scoring high points, and Biden did terribly scoring 8x the low points. This is excellent news. The media will spin this as much as possible as tie, which means Ryan won
Could you explain the “8x” part ?
Biden was treating Ryan as one treats unruly children. He was amused at what Ryan was saying because he saw him as a child telling ferry tales. Reminded me of a parent laughing at a child who is attempting to be a knowledgeable adult. Instead of using some indecent expression he used “malarkey”.
