Fourth Poll Shows Dead Heat in Michigan: Obama +1 in Michigan — Mitchell Research

Four of the last five Presidential polls in Michigan have shown this race a dead heat. First was the EPIC-MRA poll showing Romney +1, then Foster McCollum White & Associates showed Obama +1.  The outlier, of all people, is Scott Rasmussen who released a poll showing Obama +8 a week ago. But then two other polls were released repeating the dead heat nature of the state.  First was We Ask America who released a poll showing Romney +2 (45 – 43) yesterday. Today, local Michigan outfit Mitchell Research releases a poll showing Obama +1, 47 – 46, in a survey of 750 likely voters.

President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are in a statistical dead heat in the battleground state of Michigan according to the latest Mitchell Poll. Obama leads with 47% while Romney is just 1% behind at 46% in the telephone poll of 750 likely voters in the November General Election. The automated survey was conducted Monday June 18, 2012 before Romney started his bus tour through the state. The poll has a Margin of Error + or – 3.58% at the 95% level of confidence. The survey was conducted by Mitchell Research for the media and was not paid for by any campaigns or committees.

That is too many polls coming to the same conclusion for there to be concerns about one or two polls being biased.

Bottom line: Mitt Romney has been right all along…he can win Michigan.

Note, I didn’t blog the We Ask America poll, nor its companion poll showing Iowa +1 for Obama due to the nature of the organization which has concerns over a pro-GOP bias. Much the same reason I do not blog PPP surveys due to their pro-Obama bias.
